Yunping Qiu received his Ph.D. degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2008, Shanghai, China. He received his M.S. degree from Tianjin University in 2005 and his B.S. degree from China Pharmaceutical University, Nanjing, China, in 2001. He worked as a Postdoc (2009 2011) and scientist (2012 2014) at University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Greensboro, NC, USA. He is currently a Research Assistant Professor at Albert Einstein College of Medicine from 2014. Dr. Qiu devoted himself to chromatography-mass spectrum-based metabolomics and metabolic flux studies. He developed analytical protocols for urine, serum and tissue metabolite extraction, derivatization, and GC-TOF-MS / UPLC-QTOF-MS based metabolic profiling analysis. He also developed a novel GC/TOF-MS based metabolite identification procedure using isotopic ratio outlier analysis (IROA) technology. With the developed method, and protocols, he worked on development of novel diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers, understand pathological and physiological processes of variety of diseases including cancers, and diabetes.
